Rams Compete in Day One of URI Heptathlon

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island had four participants in the annual URI Heptathlon Wednesday. After day one, sophomore Drew Nealey was in first place with a total of 2772 points. He finished second in the shot put (12.26 meters), second in the high jump (1.96 meters), fourth in the long jump (6.45 meters) and sixth in the 60 meter dash (7.55  seconds).

Freshman Stephen Cirella ends day one in second with 2758 points. He placed first in the shot put (13.60 meters), third in the long jump (6.48 meters), third in the high jump (1.84 meters), and fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.54 seconds).

Senior Nigel Riley is in fourth with 2501 points. He placed first in the 60 meter dash (7.18 seconds), second in the long jump (6.97 meters), seventh in the high jump (1.60 meter), and ninth in the shot put (8.76 meters).

Senior Casey Burley finished the day in eighth with a total of 2030 points . He placed first in the long jump (7.02 meters), second in the 60 meter hurdles (7.32 seconds),  eighth in the shot put (9.19 meters),  and had an error in the high jump.
