Men's Indoor Track & Field Captures Six Individual Events At Rhody Collegiate Open

KINGSTON, R.I. - The men's indoor track & field kicked off the 2007 portion of its schedule with the Rhody Collegiate Open this afternoon at the Mackal Fieldhouse. Six different Rams turned in first-place performances.

Junior Yudehwheh Gbaa claimed the triple jump (49-10) and tied freshman teammate Michael Elliott for second place in the long jump (22-00 1/4). Elliott also captured the high jump (6-09) while sophomore Michael Bland was the top finisher in the 55-meter dash (6.48) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (22.55).

Senior Ashhad Agyapong was the top finisher in the 500-meter run (1:06.76) and junior pole vaulter Sean Strizzi won his event as well (14-06). Junior Michael Bernardo was the final Rhody performer to claim a top spot when he finished first in the weight throw (58-07 1/4).

The Rams are back in action on Friday, January 19 when they host the Heptathlon Qualifier, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
