KINGSTON, R.I. - Two home matches and five invitationals highlight the 2007 Rhode Island men's tennis schedule, which was released today by head coach Val Villucci. Having graduated just one senior, the Rams will return a wealth of experience this upcoming season and will look to turn heads throughout the northeast region.
"With the addition of a transfer student and some very good recruits joining the program, we will have a tremendous amount of depth on the team," said head coach Val Villucci. "Our overall talent level will be raised and I think we'll have a great showing. Doubles will definitely be a strong force for us. "
Rhody will open the 2007 slate with back-to-back invitationals, traveling to Fairfield for the Fairfield Doubles Tournament on Sept. 9 and to Brown for the Northeast Intercollegiate Invitational Sept. 14-16. Before hosting Division II Bryant on Sept. 26, the Rams will face Connecticut in Storrs on Sept. 19. It will be back to UConn on Sept. 28-30 as URI is scheduled to compete in the University of Connecticut Invitational.
Rhode Island welcomes Atlantic 10 rival La Salle to Kingston on Oct. 6 and will travel to Holy Cross for a match against the Crusaders on the 9th. The Rams are then scheduled to compete at the Quinnipiac Invitational (Oct. 12-14) and the ITA Regionals (Oct. 18-23) before closing out the fall season at Dartmouth's Big Green Invitational (Nov. 5-7).
