Men's Tennis Announces 2007-08 Team Captain
May 9, 2007 KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island men's tennis head coach Val Villucci has announced her team captain for the 2007-08 season. Henrik Almstrom (Hollviken, Sweden), who will return as a junior next year, will lead the Rams in just his second season at URI after transferring from High Point and competing for Rhody as a sophomore in 2006-07. "Henrik is the most extraordinary person for this position for the upcoming year," said Villucci. "He has consistently demonstrated his commitment, dedication and sacrifice to this team. He is a natural leader."
Almstrom ended the 2006-07 campaign with a 15-15 singles record, playing primarily at No.1, and was 21-14 at first doubles. As a team, the Rams finished with a 9-10 record and tied Temple for tenth place at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
