Results

BRONX, N.Y. - The Rhode Island men's swimming & diving team defeated Duquesne 159-41, but lost to Fordham 120-109 Saturday at Fordham's Col. Francis B Messmore Aquatic Center.

The Rhode Island women's swimming and diving team lost to Fordham 190-51 and Duquesne 116-88. Fordham swept the meet, with both its men's and women's teams defeating Duquesne.

Ben Robinson won two events for Rhode Island. The Sophomore took first in the 1,000 freestyle in 9:58.35 and won the 500 freestyle in 4:46.08. Matt Benedict won the 200 butterfly in 1:57.22 and Nate Suida won the 100 freestyle in 48.17.

Rhode Island won both the 400 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. The 400 medley relay team of Mike Capozzi, Matt Hartke, Benedict and Suida finished first in a time of 3:33.60. The 400 freestyle relay team of Christopher Healy, Benedict, Sean Tucker and Matthew Emmert won in a time of 3:14.71.

The Rhode Island men's team moves to 4-1, 1-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rhode Island women's team drops to 1-4, 0-2 in the Atlantic 10.

The Rams return to action on Dec. 6, when they host the two-day Harold Anderson Meet at the Tootell Aquatic Center.
