URI Men Finish Ninth And Women Take Tenth At Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The URI Men and Women's Swimming and Diving team competed at the Atlantic 10 Championships, the men's team placing ninth and the women placing tenth. St. Bonaventure took first place for the men upsetting Massachusetts while the University of Richmond won the championship for the women.
Some highlight performances from the Rhody men came from sophomore Ryan Sheatsley, junior Anthony Randall, and senior Dominic Moccia. Sheatsley lead the team with a tenth place finish in the 500-Free (4:38.54) and a fourth place finish in the 1650-Free with a time of 16:09.59. Anthony Randall placed 13th in the 50-Free with a time of 21.67. Moccia finished tenth in the 1 Meter with a score of 198.65 and 11th in the 3 Meter, scoring 184.20 points.
On the women's side, freshman Martha Ziolkowski, sophomore Cassie Mizia and freshman Kelsey Foy also performed well. Ziolkowski took home a 12th place finish in the 400- Individual Medley, hitting the wall at 4:42.83 and a tenth place finish in the 200-Backstroke with a time of 2:08.21. Mizia placed 14th in the 50, 100, and 200-Free with times of 24.89, 54.03 and 1:57.02 respectively. Foy placed tenth in the 1650-Free with a time of 17:43.97.
