2005-06 (Junior):
Started off the season posting time of 23.09 and 50.74 in the 50 and 100-yd Freestyle events(10/29 vs. UMaine)... At the Harold Anderson Invitational he was a member of the second place 400 Medley Relay, first place 200 Free Relay, fourth place 200 Medley Relay, and first place 400 Freestyle Relay... He also placed fifth individually in the 50 Free (22.88) and sixth in the 100 Free (50.88).

High School:
Was a 5-time all-state selection and a 2-time state champion, winning in the 100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter freestyle relay...Was named to the Nutmeg all-conference team 9 times...Was named team captain his senior year...Helped lead his team to 2 Nutmeg Conference titles.

Personal:
John Thomas Carey was born on April 23, 1985 to David and Kim Carey...Has worked as a bus boy, a land scaper and a lifeguard... Enjoys sailing and fishing in his free time...John's father, David, was a swimmer in college as well.
