In leading the Rams to their eighth Atlantic 10 Tournament in the past 10 seasons, head coach Ed Bradley reached two milestones in the 2004 season, winning the 200th game of his collegiate coaching career and moving to the top of the Rhode Island soccer record books as the all-time wins leader.

Bradley picked up his 200th win in 19 seasons of coaching at the collegiate level in a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Oct. 3, 2004 in Philadelphia. On the Rams next trip to Philadelphia for a game with La Salle on Oct. 22, Bradley picked up win No. 176 as head coach of the Rams, moving ahead of former Rhody coach Geza Henni as the winningest coach in URI soccer history. With a 179-129-20 mark at Rhode Island and a 27-9-14 record in three seasons at Rhode Island College, Bradley has an overall mark of 206-138-34.

"One thing we've done a good job of over the last 10 years is showing team members what their role is, and then letting them go about it. It's different for each individual, but eventually we want each player to know their role and then go out and perform that function. With a mix of American born and foreign born players, there are differing ideas and styles of how the game is to be played. We are good at finding the strengths of each individual to make the team become successful."

It's certainly a system that has worked, as Bradley has established the Rams as an elite program in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top programs in the Northeast region. A two-time Words Unlimited Coach of the Year, Bradley has built the Rhode Island soccer program into a team on the national scene. His teams have qualified for the NCAA tournament five times in the last 10 seasons and have made the Atlantic 10 Tournament eight times in 10 years.

Since taking the program over in 1989, Bradley has steadily increased the standard by which the Rams have been held. After sub-.500 records from 1989-94, Rhode Island has reeled off nine winning campaigns in the last 10 seasons, including seven years in a row. Since the breakthrough season of 1995, when URI went 19-2-2, won the Atlantic 10 tournament and regular season titles and made the NCAA field for the first time, the Rams have a record of 135-65-10, a winning percentage of .643. Over that stretch, Bradley has coached the team to 10 Atlantic 10 tournament appearances, five NCAA tournament bids and eight conference titles, including four A-10 tournament championships and four regular season crowns.

A Providence, R.I. native, Bradley was a standout midfielder for Rhode Island during his playing days for coach Bob Butler. Bradley earned All-Yankee Conference honors in 1967. Bradley went on to receive his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1968, and in 1972, he earned his masters in guidance and counseling from Rhode Island College. Bradley began his coaching career at Barrington High in 1973. He had two separate stints at the school, leading the program from 1973-79 and 1983-88. During his time there, Bradley won three state championships and seven league titles while establishing Barrington as a nationally-ranked program.

During his three-year absence from Barrington High, Bradley coached at Rhode Island College, compiling a 27-9-14 (.680) mark and a berth in the ECAC playoff in 1982. While at Rhode Island College, Bradley coached current first assistant Jay Primiano.

Bradley holds an A-License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and an Advanced National License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He also is involved in administering the State Licensing program. During the summer he conducts the Goal-4-Rams Youth Soccer Camps through the South County region. He is a 1989 inductee into the New England Hall of Fame and a 1991 inductee into the Rhode Island Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bradley and his wife Gail reside in Narragansett, R.I. Bradley's two sons are both products of Rhode Island soccer. Brian, a 1994 graduate, finished his career as the ninth leading scorer in Rams' history. He and his wife Paula had their first child, Landon James, on Dec. 18, 2004. Michael, a graduate from Brown medical school, finished his career as a Ram after transferring from Dartmouth and has played with Everett (Seattle, Wash.), New Hampshire and Vermont of the USISL. Michael, his wife Gretchen and their sons Logan and Keegan live in Jamestown, R.I. Bradley's daughter, Jill, lives in Richmond, R.I. and is an executive assistant.
