Chad Spencer Named Atlantic 10 Golf Player Of The Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - University of Rhode Island senior golfer Chad Spencer (North Kingstown, R.I.) was named the Atlantic 10 Golf Player of the Week after shooting a 3-under par 213 to finish 11th at the 49er Collegiate Classic, hosted by Charlotte on Nov. 1-2.

Spencer shot a pair of 2-under par rounds of 70 and a 1-over round of 73 in the three-round tournament. He led Rhode Island to a third-place finish with a 5-under 859 for the tournament.

This was the second time in his career that Spencer earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors. He was tabbed the conference Player of the Week on March 18, 2003, after leading the Rams with an even-par 225 in the El Diablo Intercollegiate hosted by Marshall.

Rhode Island finished the fall season on a high note with all five players recording at least one round under par at the 49er Collegiate Classic.

Rhody will look to repeat as Atlantic 10 Champions and earn their 14th consecutive spot in the NCAA Regionals in the spring of 2005. The Rams open the spring season on Feb. 9 at the Taylor Made Big Island Invitational in Kona, Hawaii.
