KINGSTON, R.I. -- Mark Stevens was named to the 2009 Atlantic 10 Golf Academic All-Conference team, it was announced today by the league office.

Stevens, a senior from Concord, N.H., closed out his stellar URI career tying for 12th-place at the Atlantic 10 Championship as he helped the squad to a fifth-place finish. The New Hampshire native posted his top finish of the 2008-09 season on March 22 at the George Washington Invitational as he placed second and helped the squad to the team title.

During his junior campaign, Stevens was named to the Division I PING All-New England Region first team. In the summer of that season, Stevens captured the 2008 New Hampshire State Amateur Championship and competed in the United States Amateur Championship at Pinehurst.

Off the course, Stevens holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.48 in finance. He was also one of just 96 golfers nationally to be named a 2008 Cleveland Golf/All-America scholar.
