HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The University of Rhode Island golf team finished 14th at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The tournament was held at the Hattiesburg C.C. from Oct. 27-28. The Rams compiled a total score of 908 (302-305-301). New Orleans won the tournament, with a combined score of 868 (296-285-287).

Senior Mark Stevens finished in a tie for 22nd place overall, with a three-round score of 223. Stevens shot a 75 in the first round of play, and a solid one-over par score of 73 in round two. He closed out play with a 75.

Freshman Kevin Josephson tied for 37th overall, with a score of 226 (73-78-75). Classmate Taylor Fontaine shot the team's lowest round in the first 18 holes of play, carding an even-par 72. He ended up tied for 57th place overall, with a score of 229 (72-81-76).

Brad Valois tied for 68th place (82-77-75=234) while Bill Forcier tied for 73rd place (83-77-79=239). Ken Looper of New Orleans was the individual medalist, with a one-under par total of 212 (72-71-69).
