CAMBRIDGE, Md. -- The University of Rhode Island men's golf team finished 17th overall at the inaugural Maryland Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, held at the River Marsh Golf Course (par 71-6801 yards) at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort.

The Rams posted a two-round total of 617 (311-306). Arkansas captured the tournament with a team total of 544 (272-272).

The event was shortened to just 36 holes of play due to poor weather conditions, caused by Tropical Storm Hanna.

Senior Brad Valois was Rhody's top individual finisher, tying for 42nd overall. Valois shot a first-day 73, followed by a second round score of 75, for a total of 148. Mark Stevens tied for 73rd overall, with a score of 155. He carded a first-day 83, but finished with a strong round of 73 on the second day.

Bill McDonald tied for 79th, with rounds of 80 and 77 (157), while Cody Larson was one stroke behind (77-81=158) and tied for 81st. Patrick Pelletier rounded out the URI golfers with a two-day total of 163 (81-82), good for a tie for 88th place. Ethan Tracy from Arkansas was the top finisher posting a ten-under-par (132).

The Rams return to action on Sept. 21-23, when they host the 15th Annual Adams Cup of Newport, held at the Newport National Golf Club.
