WETHERSFIELD, Conn. -- As a team, Rhode Island fired a 3-over par round of 287 in the opening day of play in the Blue Devil Fall Invitational, held at the Wethersield Country Club (par 71, 6614 yards).
The Rams sit in third place overall. Sacred Heart and Laval University are tied atop the team leaderboard, just one stroke ahead with a score of 286.
"It would be impossible for me to prouder of our guys. Andrew went out first and set the tone for the day by being even or one under all day. Guys drafted off him," said head coach Gregg Burke.
"Time and time again, we recovered from a bad shot or bad hole to get back into it," Burke added. "Three over is one of our best single rounds in the past five years."
Rhody concludes play in the Blue Devil Fall Invitational tomorrow.
