Golf Finishes Sixth At Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Rhode Island juniors Ben Spitz and Jesse Larson each fired a final-round even-par 71 to finish tied for 16th place and lead the Rams to sixth place out of 15 teams at the Marshall Invitational, Saturday.

Eastern Michigan won the event, finishing 16-over par for the three-round event. Ball State (+26), Marshall (+28), Akron (+31) and Marquette (+31) rounded out the top-five teams.

Spitz, who also carded a 71 for his second round, and Larson, who shot a 71 in the first round on Friday, both finished at seven-over par for the tournament along with four other competitors.

Junior Jason Pannone finished the tournament at 10-over par to tie for 31st. Freshman Mark Stevens was 15-over par to tie for 58th, while junior Devon Quigley ended up in a tie for 69th at +17.
