Setting the Scene:
Course: Oct. 15 (18 holes), Shelter Harbor Golf (par 71/6,695 yards)
The field: 15 teams, 84 total golfers
Windy conditions wreaked havoc on the course, slowing down play and impacting all aspects of the game. Dartmouth's James Pleat was the only person in the 84-player field to break par, firing a 1-under 70. Tied for second after one round are Princeton's Bernie D'Amato, and Connecticut's Matthew Dziubina, who each shot 71.
Dartmouth leads the team standings with a Day One score of 291, seven strokes ahead of Central Connecticut (298). Rhode Island is in 11th place with a team score of 311. The Rams are just one stroke behind Princeton, Boston College and Holy Cross.
Rhode Island's Individual Results:
* Graduate student Michael Hamilton led the Rhody contingent with a 75, just five strokes off the leader. Hamilton is tied for 16th overall.
* Sophomore Jared Adams - the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week - finished with a 78 and finds himself tied for 38th overall.
* Sophomore Andrew Fiorenzano is tied for 62nd after shooting an 82.
Rhode Island Team Results:
* Rhode Island ended the day tied for 11th in the 15-team field. However, only seven strokes separate fifth place from 11th place. There will be plenty of position changes in the standings on Day Two.
The final round of the Classic at Shelter Harbor will be played Sunday, Oct. 16.
