Three Rams Earn CAA Football All-Conference Honors

KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore punter Tim Edger, senior wide receiver Shawn Leonard and junior linebacker Rob Damon were each selected CAA Football All-Conference as the league the announced its postseason awards on Monday. The league's head coaches voted on the CAA Postseason All-Conference teams. Edger was named to the CAA Second Team and was one of just three sophomores named to the squad. In 2009, Edger posted league-best punting average of 41.5 yards per game. The Hainesport, N.J. native's punting average ranked second in URI history for a single season as did his 2,946 total punt yards. Leonard was selected to the CAA Third Team after a senior season where totaled single season career-highs in receptions (47), receiving yards (858) and receiving touchdowns (11). The Stoughton, Mass. native's 11 touchdowns were the most by any CAA receiver and his 858 yards receiving were the second-most in the league. In addition, he became just the 10th receiver in URI history to finish with 800 yards or more in a single season. His 858 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns rank seventh and sixth, respectively in the all-time URI record book for a single season. Leonard finished his career at URI with 21 touchdowns 143 receptions and 2,353 yards receiving. Damon earned CAA Third Team honors following his breakout season at linebacker after moving from safety the year before. This past fall, Damon started every game and led the CAA in tackles per game, averaging 11.3 tackles per game. In addition, Damon posted 14.0 tackles for loss, which ranked fifth in the CAA. The Piscataway, N.J. native finished the year with 124 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two sacks. Damon also recorded 10-or-more tackles in eight games, including a career-high 19-tackle performance against Connecticut.
