Exciting Day of Promotions Set for Governor's Cup

This weekend's Governor's Cup will play host to several special activities and promotions prior to and throughout the game. It will be Band and Youth Day at Meade Stadium, where local high school bands are invited to attend the game and join the URI Marching Band in their pre-game campus march as well as join them for a halftime performance. Local cheerleeading groups are also invited to attend and perform with the URI Cheerleaders for two performances throughout the game and local youth groups are invited to attend the game and will be able to march onto the field behind the band before the game and stand on the field in the end zone during the national anthem. There will be a half dozen mascots present on game day representing a variety of New England teams and businesses, including Paws from the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the World Champion Boston Red Sox. A Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will be held for children ages 8-13, hosted by the the New England Intensity of the International Women's Football League (IWFL), a professional women's full-contact football league. The Department of Athletics will be giving away 2 tickets to see the World Champion Boston Celtics play the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence on October 10th along with 2 tickets to see Carrie Underwood with special guest Little Big Town in concert at the Ryan Center on October 16th. Fans can enter to win at the Ram Zone Gift Shop in the Ryan Center and the URI Bookstore outdoor merchandise tent up until the end of halftime. Winners will be announced during the 4th quarter and must be present to win.

 

 

Don't miss the Family Fun Zone, which is open 2 hours prior to each home Rhode Island football game outside the south entrance to Meade Stadium. It includes inflatable bounce houses courtesy of Young Kids Entertainment, a climbing rock wall from the Rhode Island Rock Gym, face painting, giveaways and Autograph Alley, where fans will have the opportunity to meet and get autographs from various URI Athletic teams. This weekend Autograph Alley will feature the URI Men's Track & Cross Country teams, Women's Track & Cross Country teams and Volleyball team.
