CELEBRATING 25 YEARS: The '84 URI Football Team - Part Ten

Rhody Travels to No. 8/7 New Hampshire on Saturday

Sept. 22, 2008

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island football team's matchup with Brown University will be broadcast live on the New England Sports Network (NESN) at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Meade Stadium.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to play against Brown on television," said Rhode Island head coach Darren Rizzi. "As a player here at URI I always enjoyed competing in this game for chance to win the Governor's Cup. I think it's great that the entire New England region will have a chance to see us in action and I know our guys will be ready to play."

The two teams, which annually play for the Governor's Cup, will meet for the 91st time. In last year's meeting, Rhode Island defeated Brown, 49-42, in a double-overtime game that featured over 1,100 yards of total offense between the two teams.

"We are thrilled that the Governor's Cup will be on television," said Rhode Island Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn. "Last year's double-overtime win was example of how exciting the Brown vs. URI football game is to both Universities. Because of NESN's distribution, alumni clubs throughout the country will be able to get together to watch this exciting football rivalry."
