KINGSTON, R.I. - Following its week-two bye, the Rhode Island football team (1-0) travels to Massachusetts on Saturday for its 2009 CAA opener. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and can be seen live on Comcast Sports Net.

Rhody's trip to Amherst, Mass., will be its first to McGuirk Alumni Stadium since 2006. URI opened the 2009 season on Sept. 5 with a convincing 41-28 victory over Fordham to hand Joe Trainer his first win career victory as the squad's head coach.

In the game against Fordham, URI jumped out to a 34-0 lead and never looked back as it posted 455 yards of total offense.

Junior quarterback Chris Paul-Etienne led the way offensively with 245 yards (164 passing and 81 rushing) of total offense. The Rams first-year signal also accounted for three touchdowns, passing for two and running for another.

Defensively, URI held Fordham scoreless for the first 29 minutes and forced the Rams into five turnovers. Juniors Rob Damon and Victor Adesanya led the way as they combined for 17 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two sacks.

This week, the Rams will meet a Minutemen squad, which is coming off a 44-7 victory over Albany back on Sept. 12 to even its record at 1-1. UMass opened its 2009 campaign with a 21-17 loss at Kansas State.

Steve McDonald and Terry Lynch will handle the play-by-play on the Rams Radio Network (WHJJ 920 AM). Fans can also tune into a live audio stream on the Internet, via Yahoo! Sports. A live video stream will also be available on Rhody All-Access, via GoRhody.com.
