KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island football team assisted the National Marrow Donor Program as it added 263 individuals to the national bone marrow registry on Saturday at Keaney Gymnasium.

The 263 Individuals who registered at the event surpassed the team's goal of getting 250 names added to the national database.

There are 20 million people worldwide who are registered as potential marrow donors. Still, there are only about 250 matches found each year, making it a 1-in-80,000 chance that a registered donor will be a match.

Following the bone marrow registry drive, the team took part in its annual Blue and White spring game. The Blue team defeated the White team 20-14 in overtime.
