RICHMOND, Va. - The Rhode Island football team (4-6; 3-4 CAA) forced five turnovers, but it was not enough as the Spiders erased a 6-3 fourth-quarter deficit to knock off Rhody 15-6.

Offensively for the Rams, quarterback Steve Probst accounted for 292 yards (195 passing; 97 rushing). Probst completed passes to five different receivers, seven of which went to Ty Bynum, who finished the game with a team-best 64 yards receiving.

Senior linebackers Joe Harris and Matt Hansen each recorded nine tackles apiece. With his nine stops, Hansen became URI's all-time leading tackler passing Paul Picciotti, who held the record since 2001.

Rhody turned the ball over three times in the opening quarter, but held Richmond to just three points. The Spiders lone score of the quarter came on a 29-yard field goal from Wil Kamin.

Despite the three turnovers, URI outgained Richmond 84-14 in the first quarter.

The Rams took the lead in the second quarter as they engineered a six play, 62-yards drive. Senior Anthony Ferrer capped the drive with a one-yard run to give URI a 6-3 lead.

No team would score for the remainder of the half as Rhody took a 6-3 into the locker room.

Rhody threatened just before the end of the half as it had the ball first and goal at the nine yard line, but the Rams were unable to come away with any points.

Neither team was able to score any points in the third frame as URI took a 6-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

Richmond reclaimed the lead in the fourth quarter thanks to a 77-yard touchdown pass from John Laub to Donte Boston. The Spiders went on to add another score as Kendal Gaskins darted in from two yards out.
