KINGSTON, R.I. - Freshman James Timmins recovered a fumble and raced 39-yards to the endzone, which propelled the Rhode Island football team (1-2) to a 28-25 victory over No. 8 New Hampshire Saturday afternoon at Meade Stadium.

Senior Victor Adesanya forced the fumble as he dropped quarterback R.J. Toman in the backfield for the Rams sixth sack of the afternoon. Defensively, Rhody held the Wildcats to just 59 yards rushing.

Rhody's victory over New Hampshire was the Rams first win over the Wildcats since 2003 and its first over a ranked team since 2008 when URI downed Brown back in 2008. The Rams last win over a top 10 team came back in 2007 when Rhody downed Massachusetts 12-6 in overtime.

Offensively, Rhody rushed for 215 yards. Sophomore running back Ayo Isijola had a game-high 98 yards on the ground and junior Steve Probst rushed for 95 yards and a score.

Rhody opened the scoring thanks to a 20-yard field goal by kicker Louis Feinstein. Feinstein's field goal was set up by a fumble recovery on the UNH four-yard line.

New Hampshire took the lead on its next offensive series after quarterback R.J. Toman rushed in from 28-yards out to give the Wildcats a 7-3 lead. UNH went on to increase its lead to 12 as wide receiver Terrance Fox hauled in a 21-yard pass from Toman. The Wildcats then converted a two-point conversion to make the score 15-3.

The Rams fought back and scored 10 unanswered points to make the count 15-13 at halftime. Junior Anthony Baskerville caught his second touchdown of the year and Feinstein drilled a 23-yard field goal.

In the third quarter, UNH added a field goal to take an 18-13 lead, but in the fourth, Rhody outscored the Wildcats 15-7 to secure the win.

Rhody returns to action on Oct. 2 as it welcomes Brown for the 29th annual Governor's Cup. The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
