KINGSTON, R.I. -- On Wednesday night, Rhode Island travels to Boston to face Northeastern at 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena.

The Rams (5-2) are coming off a 1-1 split in the final two games of the 2008 Hoop Group Philly Classic on Nov. 28-29. Rhody downed Penn State, 77-72, this past Friday night at the Palestra, before dropping a 78-65 decision to #22/20 Villanova the following night.

Jimmy Baron and Keith Cothran were both named to the all-tournament team. Baron averaged 21.5 points per game over the two-game span, knocking down 6-of-11 from 3-point land. Cothran checked in at 15.0 points and 3.5 assists per game, including 18 points and three assists against Penn State.

Northeastern (3-3) enters tomorrow night's game having dropped its last two outings. Head coach Bill Coen's squad dropped an 83-75 decision at home to Boston University on Nov. 25 before losing, 55-37, at USF on Nov. 29.

Matt Janning leads NU in scoring, at 17.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. The preseason All-CAA selection poured in 34 points in 37 minutes in last year's matchup between the two schools at the Ryan Center.

Four others average 8.2 points or better - Manny Adako (9.0), Eugene Spates (8.8), Chaisson Allen (8.7) and Nkem Ojougboh (8.2). As a team, Northeastern is averaging 62.0 points per game while shooting just under 40.0% from the floor.

The Huskies are Rhode Island's eighth-most common opponent, having met 75 previous times on the hardwood. The Rams hold a 68-7 all-time record in the series, which dates back to the 1916-17 season. Rhody has captured the last 11 meetings, including a 92-72 victory on Dec. 1, 2007 in Kingston.

Steve McDonald and Don Kaull will provide the live broadcast on the Rams Radio Network (WHJJ 920 AM; WJZS 99.3 FM), beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. The radio broadcast can also be heard on the internet, via Yahoo! Sports.
