KINGSTON, R.I. -- On Tuesday night, Rhode Island looks to improve to 4-1 on the season as it takes on Hartford at the Thomas M. Ryan Center. Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised live locally on Cox Sports Television, with Don Coyne and Abu Bakr calling the action.

The game is part of the 2008 Hoop Group Philly Classic. On Nov. 20, URI downed Monmouth, 85-62, in W. Long Branch, N.J. The tournament will conclude Nov. 28-29 at the Palestra in Philadelphia, with Rhode Island taking on Penn State at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night. The Rams will face either Villanova or Towson in the second game.

Last time out for the Rams, Keith Cothran led all scorers with a career-high 23 points - in a 92-86 victory over VCU on Saturday, Nov. 22. Four other Rhody players tallied double-figures as the team used a late 11-4 push to close out the victory over the visiting team.

Head coach Dan Leibovitz and his ballclub enters Tuesday night's game with a 1-3 record. Hartford picked up its first victory of the season - a double-overtime win at home over St. Francis (N.Y.) - on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Hartford is led offensively by Jared von Rosenberg and Joe Zeglinski - both players are averaging 12.8 points per game. Zeglinski is also the team's top rebounder, at 6.0 boards per game.

 

 

Morgan Sabia also averaged double-figures in the scoring column, checking in at 11.3 points per game. Three others - Michael Turner (7.8), Genesis Maciel (6.8) and Kevin Estes (6.0) - also see significant minutes of playing time.

The Hawks are averaging 68.2 points per game, connecting on 41.3% (93-225) of its field goal attempts -including 38.5% from the outside (40-104). As a team, Hartford has 58 assists to just 56 turnovers. They are allowing opponents to shoot 47.8% from the floor.

Fans can also follow the action through the Rams Radio Network (WHJJ 920 AM; WJZS 99.3 FM), as Steve McDonald and Don Kaull call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show 6:30 p.m. The live video feed will also be available via Rhody All-Access.
