KINGSTON, R.I. -- On Saturday night, Rhode Island hosts VCU in a non-conference matchup at the Thomas M. Ryan Center. Both teams received votes in the latest Associated Press national top 25 poll.

VCU enters the game with a 2-0 record. Head coach Anthony Grant and his squad downed the Citadel, 82-59, on Nov. 16 while defeating South Dakota State, 72-56 on Nov. 19.

Senior guard Eric Maynor - the 2007-08 CAA Player of the Year - leads the Rams in scoring, at 20.5 points per game. He poured in a season-high 29 points last time out versus South Dakota State. VCU is also led by T.J. Gwynn's 11.0 points per game and Ed Nixon's 10.0 points per outing.

As a team, VCU is holding its opponents to just 57.5 points per game and 34.9% shooting from the floor.

Last time out (Nov. 20), Rhody cruised to an 85-62 victory at Monmouth. Keith Cothran's career-high 18 points led four Rams in double-digits. The junior guard was 7-of-10 from the floor in just 21 minutes of action. Jimmy Baron added 15, while Kahiem Seawright had 13 and Delroy James 10.

It will mark the third time the two schools - both with the nickname Rams - will meet on the hardwood. URI and VCU played a home-and-home series during the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons, with each team winning on its respective home court. VCU took an 87-66 decision on Dec. 31, 1994 in Richmond, while Rhody won, 68-63, at the Providence Civic Center on Dec. 16, 1995.

Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen live locally on Cox Sports Television. Don Coyne and Abu Bakr will call all the action live. The game can also be seen live, via video stream on Rhody All-Access. Steve McDonald and Don Kaull will call the game live on the Rams Radio Network (WHJJ 920 AM, WJZS 99.3 FM).

Fans can also view the game live on their computers, via the Rhody All-Access videostream (subject to local blackout). To learn more about Rhody All-Access or to subscribe, visit GoRhody.com.
