KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island heads on the road to take on Brown in a non-conference matchup in Providence on Wednesday night. URI's most common opponent, the Bears (1-1) and the Rams (1-0) will be facing off for the 149th time in history.

Rhody holds a 96-52 lead in the all-time series. URI - which has captured the last five and 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two schools - defeated the Bears, 72-68, last year (Dec. 5, 2006) at the Ryan Center. This marks the first time Rhode Island has played at Brown since Dec. 3, 2003 (66-62, URI).

URI opened up the 2007-08 regular season on Nov. 9, with a 90-63 victory over Florida Atlantic. Jimmy Baron poured in a career-high 30 points, eclipsing his previous mark of 28 - set last season versus Brown on Dec. 5. Keith Cothran scored a career-best 17, while Joe Mbang added 12.

Brown enters the game with a 1-1 mark. Last time out, on Nov. 11, the Bears dropped a 72-57 decision at Michigan. Brown defeated Eastern Michigan, 74-55, on Nov. 9 for its first win of the season. Rhody will face Eastern Michigan on Dec. 28 in the first game of the Islander Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas.

"We're going to be in for a tough test facing Brown," head coach Jim Baron said. "They have a terrific veteran lineup that can really score. Craig Robinson does a great job getting his team prepared and running their sets."

Damon Huffman leads the Bears in scoring, at 20.5 points per game. Mark McAndrew is second, at 19.0 points per outing, while Mark MacDonald is averaging 9.5 points. Head coach Craig Robinson's team is shooting 47.0% (47-100) from the floor, including 43.5% (20-46) from the perimeter, while limiting opponents to just 42.4% from the floor.

The game can be heard live on radio, on WHJJ 920 AM and The Bridge 99.3 FM, with Steve McDonald and Don Kaull calling all the action. Additionally, the game can be heard live on the internet, via Yahoo! Sports. Log onto GoRhody.com and follow the audio/video links.
