Season Ticket Pickup Party a Success

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Over 400 Rhody season ticket holders attended the inaugural Men's and Women's Basketball Season Ticket Pickup Party, held at Casey's Grill & Bar in Wakefield.
Head coaches Jim Baron and Cathy Inglese and their staffs, along with members of the 2009-10 men's and women's basketball teams, joined many URI season ticket holders to celebrate the start of the upcoming season.
"It was a great night to celebrate the upcoming seasons," said Baron. "There was a tremendous turnout at Casey's and the amount of energy and passion that our fans show for our men's and women's basketball programs is second to none."
"It was a really fun night and a great chance to be able to meet some of our fans in person," Inglese said. "I loved the energy and interest they showed in both our men's and women's programs and I'm really excited to be able to share that same enthusiasm with so many great people."
The first official day of practice for both the men's and women's basketball programs is Friday, Oct. 16. The men's basketball team will play the first of its two exhibition games on Nov. 6 against Concordia (Que.), followed by a Nov. 10 matchup with Rhode Island College that will be televised live on Cox Sports Television.
The women's basketball program will play an exhibition contest in Keaney Gym on Nov. 7 against UMass-Lowell.
