Rhode Island Announces 2009-10 Men's Basketball Television Schedule

Oct. 14, 2009

Complete 2009-10 Schedule with TV

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island will make a record 17 regular season appearances on television during the 2009-10 season.

Fourteen of the Rams' 16 Atlantic 10 games will be aired on Cox Sports Television (ch. 3) - the exclusive home for URI basketball. URI will also appear on NESN locally and ESPNU nationally during the season.

"Without a doubt, this is the best television package in the history of URI basketball," head coach Jim Baron said. "I am excited and happy that our loyal fans will be able to watch our team this year - home and away - on such a comprehensive level."

Rhode Island will make its first television appearance of the season on Cox Sports Television as it hosts Providence on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Thomas M. Ryan Center. Cox will also air the Dec. 10 matchup against Northeastern.

"Cox is proud to be the exclusive provider of live local sports coverage in the region, so we are delighted to offer URI basketball games to our customers," said Paul Cronin, senior vice president and general manager, Cox New England. "With the expanded televised schedule, fans will have even more opportunities to enjoy Rams basketball."

The Dec. 13 away game at Boston College will be televised on NESN, followed by Jan. 2 matchup with Oklahoma State that will be nationally broadcast on ESPNU.

Cox Sports Television will produce and air Rhody's conference opener against Temple on Jan. 10. Cox will also air the following home Atlantic 10 games: Jan. 13 - Saint Joseph's; Jan. 20 - Duquesne; Feb. 6 - Massachusetts; Feb. 10 - Richmond; and March 3 - Charlotte.

When the Rams are on the road, Cox Sports Television will air six of the eight A-10 games away from the Thomas M. Ryan Center, beginning with the Jan. 16 game at Fordham. Other URI road A-10 games on Cox: Jan. 23 - at Xavier; Jan. 26 - at Dayton; Feb. 13 - at Temple; Feb. 17 - at Saint Louis; Feb. 27 - at St. Bonaventure; and March 6 - at Massachusetts.

For the first time in Atlantic 10 history, the title game of the men's basketball championship will be televised live nationally on CBS. The A-10 championship game will be held on March 14 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. at 1 p.m. Quarterfinal and semifinal matchups at the A-10 championship will be aired live nationally on CBS College Sports network.
