KINGSTON, R.I. -- Pat Skerry, an assistant coach with the men's basketball team, is participating in the 2008 VCU SportsCenter Villa 7 Consortium, held in conjunction with Nike, Inc., from May 13-14. The event is being held at Nike's corporate campus in Beaverton, Ore.

The annual event is designed to provide up-and-coming men's and women's assistant coaches with an opportunity to network with other young assistants, some of the top head coaches in the country, decision-making athletics adminstrators and industry leaders.

The chief goal of the symposium is to provide opportunities for these assistant coaches, who are considered to be the very best in college basketball, to advance their careers towards a head coaching position. Over the past four years of the Villa 7 program, 34 participants have become Division I head coaches.
