KINGSTON, R.I. -- Wednesday's Atlantic 10 opener between #22/20 (AP/ESPN) Rhode Island at #17/22 Dayton will be available to both a local and national audience.

The game - set to tip at 7 p.m. - can be seen locally on two different channels, depending on the cable television subscription package. For Cox customers who do not have digital cable, the game will be aired on channel 64. For Cox customers with a digital cable package, the game will be aired on ch. 143, which is College Sports Television (CSTV).

Additionally, CSTV will air the game nationwide, on all cable/satellite packages.

"We are very excited that our loyal fans will be able to see the Rhode Island/Dayton game on Wednesday night," Thorr Bjorn, URI's director of athletics said. "It will be one of the most exciting games of the college basketball season and thanks to the hard work and efforts of CSTV, the Atlantic 10, Cox Communications, Dayton and URI, it will be aired both locally and nationally."

The Rams are off to their best start since the 1946-47 season, at 14-1, and have spent the last three weeks ranked in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls. This week, the Rams moved up one spot to #22 in the AP poll, while jumping two spots to #20 in the coaches poll.

"This agreement is great news for all Rhode Island basketball fans, especially Cox Communications customers," said Paul Cronin, vice president and region manager, Cox Communications. "We're delighted to be able to partner with a sister company, Cox Broadcasting's WHIO in Dayton, to make available this highly anticipated game between two top 25 teams."

The contest will mark the first time in league history that two ranked teams will meet in their respective Conference opener. The last two ranked A-10 teams met during the regular season was on Feb. 22, 2003, when No. 14 (AP) Xavier edged No. 25 (AP) Dayton, 73-72. The last time a pair of ranked A-10 teams met was on Mar. 14, 2003, in the semifinals of the 2003 A-10 Championship as No. 22 (AP) Dayton edged No. 22 (AP) Saint Joseph's, 76-73.

WHIO-TV in Dayton will produce the broadcast, as Mike Hartsock and Derrick Dukes will call the action.

Fans who cannot access the television broadcasts can still watch the game live for free online, through Dayton's website daytonflyers.com.

Additionally, the game can also be heard live on radio, on WHJJ 920 AM and The Bridge 99.3 FM, with Steve McDonald and Don Kaull bringing all the action. Additionally, the game can be heard live on the internet, via Yahoo! Sports. Log onto GoRhody.com and follow the audio/video links.
