KINGSTON, R.I.
– Rhode Island will be the No. 8 seed at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and will face No. 9 La Salle in the opening round at the Barclays Center on Thursday, March 14. The Rams and Explorers will tip off at noon, the league announced as part of its bracket reveal Saturday evening.

VCU – which won its final 12 regular-season games – earned the top seed in the tournament and will await the winner of the Rhode Island-La Salle game. That quarterfinal contest will be played Friday, March 15 at noon. Each of the first two rounds of the tournament will be broadcast on NBCSN.

The Rams and Explorers met at La Salle's Gola Arena on Jan. 19, with Rhode Island winning, 78-67. Jeff Dowtin had 22 points and Fatts Russell added 20 in the win. Cyril Langevine had 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win.

Rhode Island closed out the regular season by winning its final four games, the team's longest winning streak of the season. The only team with a longer active winning streak in the conference is top-seeded VCU, which has won 12 straight. Rhode Island was the last team to defeat VCU.
