KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island junior Cyril Langevine is the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Langevine averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 assists while leading the Rams to a pair of victories last week. He shot 81.0 percent from the floor (17-of-21) over the two games.
In Friday night's thrilling overtime win at Dayton, Langevine scored a career-high 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting. He also had eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals while playing 44 minutes in the victory. Earlier in the week, he had 13 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting. He added six rebounds, two blocks and two assists in just 28 minutes of a 27-point win over George Washington.
Langevine is enjoying a breakout season, averaging 14.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He ranks seventh in the country with 3.61 offensive rebounds per game, and he is 15th nationally with the 10.1 total boards per game. Langevine also is fifth in the Atlantic 10 with 1.5 blocked shots per game.
Langevine is the second Ram to win the weekly league honor this season. Junior Jeff Dowtin won the award for the week of Dec. 17.
