Greenwood combined with Bryant junior Eric Polvani, Boston College sophomore Pat Dean, UMass senior Mitchell Clegg, and UConn senior David Erickson for the shutout. Together, the five pitchers struck out nine and walked just one.

Junior Oliver Palmer (North Kingstown, R.I.) played five and a half innings as the starting second baseman. He finished 1-for-3 at the plate and recorded five assists and a putout in the field.

Senior shortstop Dan Rhault (Lincoln, R.I.) entered the game in the bottom of the sixth and was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in two ninth-inning at-bats. Defensively, he recorded one putout and one assist.

Leading 3-0 after eight innings of play, the University Team broke the game open with eight runs in the top of the ninth, including two-run singles by Brown University sophomore Peter Greskoff, Central Connecticut senior Sean Parker and Holy Cross junior Matt Perry.
