Palanski Named to A-10 Baseball All-Championship Team

CAMDEN, N.J. - Senior Brett Palanski (Nashua, N.H.) was named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Championship Team, announced this afternoon following the conclusion of the league's title game between No. 1 Xavier and No. 2 Charlotte. Palanski earned the honor after leading the fifth-seeded Rams to an opening-round victory over fourth-seeded Temple, Wednesday afternoon. The Rhody righty struck out four batters and allowed just one run over eight innings of work to improve to 7-4 on the season and 16-16 over his career. Joining Palanski on the All-Championship Team were O'Brien Taylor (Charlotte), Alex Burt (Charlotte), Luke Stahl (Charlotte), Mike Creevy (Xavier), Jordan Conley (Xavier), Danny Rosenbaum (Xavier), Mike Mongiardini (Temple), Stan Orzechowski (Temple), Derek Mechling (Duquesne), Bill Torre (Duquesne) and 2008 Most Outstanding Player Rob Lyerly (Charlotte). The URI baseball team finished its season with an overall record of 31-27-1 and advanced to the A-10 semifinals with wins over Temple (7-1) and Xavier (11-4), before being eliminated with losses to Charlotte (11-1) and Xavier (3-0).
