A-10 Tournament Notes | Tournament Central | Tournament Bracket

CAMDEN, N.J. - The fifth-seeded Rhode Island baseball team (29-25-1, 15-11-1) is set to face fourth-seeded Temple (26-27, 16-11) in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship, Wednesday, May 21 at 12:00 p.m. It marks the sixth-consecutive season the Rams will be participating in the league's post-season tournament - which is the longest active streak among any conference team.

Rhody is 9-10 (.450) all time at the A-10 Championship and is 3-3 in tournament openers. This season, the Rams turned in a 2-7 record against A-10 tourney participants. URI did not face Xavier and St. Bonaventure during the 2008 regular season.

The Rams are 32-52 all-time against the Owls, having been swept in this season's three-game series. The last time the two teams met in the postseason was in 1984, when Temple defeated URI in back to-back games (6-4, 6-3) to win the Atlantic 10 title.

At last year's tournament, URI was the #5 seed and defeated fourth-seeded Xavier, 4-1, in the opening game before falling to eventual-champion and nationally-ranked Charlotte, 11-1. The Rams were then knocked out of contention with a 3-0 loss to Xavier.
