May 4, 2009
KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Jeff Cammans (Jamestown, R.I.) was named Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Player of the Week on Monday, May 4. Cammans shares the honor - the first of his career - with George Washington's Sean Rockey. Cammans batted a team-best .625 with ten hits (two doubles and two home runs) this past week to extended his hit streak to eight games. He also posted a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .684 on-base percentage while adding three stolen bases, five RBI and five runs. Cammans went 4-for-5 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base to pace the Rams in their 7-6 extra innings victory over Fordham on Sunday. He currently leads the team and is tied for fifth in the A-10 with 16 stolen bases. Defensively, Cammans was flawless on the week - recording 34 putouts and four assists. The first-place Rams (32-15-1, 17-3 Atlantic 10) are back in action this coming weekend when they head to Amherst, Mass. for a three-game series with the Minutemen. The two teams will play at 3 p.m. on Friday, Noon on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.
