UMass now stands 13-11 overall and 7-4 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, while Rhode Island moves to 17-18 overall and 9-5 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams are in first place in the Atlantic 10 East Division.

In the first game, Rhode Island took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by outfielder Matt Sullivan, but would not score again. UMass put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first, then added two more in the bottom of the second to conclude the scoring.

In the second contest, the Rams scored unearned runs in the first and second inning, then increased their lead to 3-0 in the third on an RBI double by first baseman Dan Batz.
