BRADENTON, Fla. - Sophomore Dan Frederick (Dracut, Mass.) earned the complete-game shutout as the Rhode Island baseball team blanked Yale 5-0 Monday.

Coming off a victory over No. 30 Alabama in which he held the Crimson Tide to one run and three hits through the first eight innings, Frederick held Yale to just five singles and no runs in the seven-inning game Monday.

Frederick struck out five and walked four to improve to 2-1 on the season. Sophomore Dan Hayden (Garnerville, N.Y.) drove in two runs for the Rams and freshman Wayne Russo (Warwick, R.I.) had a double and two runs scored. Junior Jared Trout (Gilbertsville, Pa.) went 1-for-1 with a pinch hit single.

The Rams (2-6) play Bucknell on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Bradenton, Fla.
