How it Happened
Massachusetts (4-17, 1-5) struck first, getting on the board in the bottom of the second when Nik Campero led off with a double and eventually scored on a sac-fly by Jeff Cavanaro. However, Rhode Island (14-16, 3-3) moved in front in the bottom of the third after Joe Landi scored on Jeff Roy's RBI ground-out and Chris Famiglietti crossed the plate on a run-scoring double by Mike LeBel. The Rams then added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh as Tim Caputo's RBI double plated pinch-runner Jesse Lee.
