How it Happened
No. 8 Ole Miss (6-0) scored three runs in the first inning, then added single runs in the second and third innings to build an early lead. The Rebels held off Rhode Island (0-6) en route to a 5-3 victory to sweep the series. The Rams were able to get the potential tying run to the plate in the seventh and eighth innings, but could not complete the comeback.

Joe Landi batted leadoff for the first time this season and responded with three singles in five at bats. Through six games, Landi is leading Rhode Island with a .400 batting average (10-for-25). 

Bobby Dean pitched six shutout innings out of the bullpen for the Rams. Dean allowed just three hits and struck out six batters as he kept Rhody in the game. 

Chris Famiglietti tripled, singled twice, stole a base, drove in one run and scored once for Rhode Island. Famiglietti had a team-best .444 batting average for the series. 

Shane O'Connell had two hits and two runs batted in. He has three hits in his last seven at bats. 

Kevin Stenhouse singled, walked and scored a pair of runs.

• Over the course of the series, Ole Miss outscored Rhode Island 13-2 in the first three innings. In innings four through nine, the Rams held a 2-1 edge.

What's Next
The Rams stay in Mississippi for a pair of mid-week games at Mississippi State. Rhody and the Bulldogs play Tuesday, Feb. 26 and Wednesday, Feb. 27, with both games starting at 5 p.m. EST.
