How it Happened
Rhode Island built up a 6-0 lead over the first five and a half innings before Xavier got on the board with a three-run sixth. URI tacked on two more in the seventh to make it 8-3 but the Musketeers plated one more in the ninth.

  • With the Win, URI improves to 3-2 while Xavier drops to 1-4. The Rams also improve to 13-9 in the all-time series vs. the Musketeers.  
  • As a team, Rhody collected 13 hits while holding XU to just five on the afternoon.
  • Redshirt senior Jeff Cammans and redshirt junior Chris Famiglietti led Rhode Island with three hits apiece. Cammans also drove in two runs for the Rams on a pair of RBI-doubles.
  • Senior Milan Adams and and redshirt junior Pat Fortunato each singled and doubled for URI. Fortunato also scored three times while Adams crossed the plate twice.
  • Redshirt senior Dan Haverstick went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.   
  • In his first career appearance, Rhody freshman Tim Caputo went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base. He also recorded four assists at shortstop.
  • Sophomore Kevin Lee earned the win on the mound, giving up three runs on just three hits over 5.1 innings. Redshirt junior Rob Curran picked up the save – his first of the season.
  • Rhode Island's relievers turned in another solid performance, combining to allow just two hits over 3.2 innings. Along with Curran, sophomore Liam O'Sullivan, redshirt freshman Brendan Doonan and sophomore Joe Landi helped the Rhody bullpen lower its ERA to 0.53 throughout 17.0 innings so far this season. Eight different Rhody relievers have now combined to allow just one run on three hits.
