KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island redshirt junior Jeff Cammans went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs while extending his hit streak to seven games in the Rhode Island baseball team's 7-4 non-conference victory over St. Bonaventure, Thursday afternoon.
Freshman pitcher Nick Narodowy earned the win on the hill, tossing one inning of relief for redshirt sophomore starter Bobby Dean - who struck out five batters over four scoreless innings. Freshman Kevin Lee then came on and gave up one run while fanning four in 2.1 innings before redshirt senior Kyle Regnault closed things out for his first save of the season.
Rhody (6-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, as Cammans tripled to plate junior Mike LeBel and then scored on a single by Coulombe - who stole second and third before crossing the plate on an RBI single by Muller.
The Rams made it 5-0 after Cammans' second-inning RBI single and a run by Annarummo in the third but the Bonnies came back and used a two-run shot to make it 5-2 in the top of the fifth.
SBU (2-3) walked in a run in the bottom of the frame to put URI back in front by four (6-2) but quickly got the run back in the top of the sixth.
Redshirt junior Dan Haverstick scored Rhody's final run in the seventh inning before St. Bonaventure tacked on one more in the eighth.
Nick Brennan was charged with the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits over 4.2 innings of work.
Rhody is back in action on Friday when it faces Northeastern at Noon.
