Baseball Schedule Changes

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island vs. Dayton baseball game - originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. start this afternoon - has been postponed due to inclement weather in Kingston. The three-game series will begin at 1 p.m. tomorrow, followed by a Sunday afternoon doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
All three games will be played at newly-renovated Bill Beck Field.
Rhody (14-10-1) enters the weekend looking to bounce back after an 0-2-1 week with losses to Central Connecticut and Brown and a 7-7 tie with Brown. The Rams are 4-2 in conference play having won 2-of-3 games at both Xavier and George Washington.
Offensively, freshman Mike LeBel (Quincy, Mass.) leads the way for URI with a .375 batting average, 33 hits and seven stolen bases. He enters the series riding a 13-game hit streak. Junior Oliver Palmer (North Kingstown, R.I.) has scored a team-best 26 runs while junior Rob DeVeney has driven in 22 runs on 27 hits. Senior Dan Rhault (Lincoln, R.I.) leads the Rams with a .618 slugging percentage and a .446 on-base percentage. Palmer, DeVeney and Rhault have each homered five times this season.

Game 1 - junior RHP Tim Boyce (Swansea, Mass): 2-1 record, 7.90 ERA, 30 K's
Game 2 - junior LHP Nick Greenwood (Southington, Conn.): 2-3 record, 4.95 ERA, 37 K's
Game 3 - junior RHP Eric Smith (Milford, Conn.): 2-1 record, 3.38 ERA, 23 K's
Dayton (16-10) comes to Kingston with a perfect 6-0 conference record, having swept St. Bonaventure and Charlotte in the first two weekends of A-10 play. The Flyers have won eight of their last night games.
At the plate, UD is led by a pair of players batting over .400 on the season. Jacob Spaeth leads the team with a .407 average while Aaron Dunsmore is just behind him at .404. Both Spaeth and Dunsmore have appeared in each of the Flyers' 26 games so far this season.
