Kingston, RI- The University of Rhode Island's baseball team picked up a pair of win's on Saturday against the Temple University Owls. The Rams posted nine runs in the second game, including three home runs in the third, to seal the victory 9-3.
All of the Rams nine runs came in the third inning after trailing 3-0 off a homer by Temple's Al Roach and a RBI single by Pete Colom. However, Rhode Island answered back quickly with an impressive third inning rally.
Scott Brown (Portland, ME) started things with a singled. Dan Batz (Mohnton, PA) then homered to right field to bring the Rams within 1. Mike Rainville (Pawtucket, RI) and Adam Houston (East Greenwich, RI) each singled. And scored off of a three run Josh Nestor (Nashua, NH) home run to right. Ryan Cunningham (Centerville, VA) doubled and Daryl Holcomb (Wilmington, Del) was hit by a pitch. Wayne Russo (Warwick, RI) then homered to right field to score three more for the Rams. Rhode Island would score again that inning off of a Batz single.
The rest of the game would go scoreless as the Rams picked up their 18th victory of the season.
The Rams will continue this three game series with Temple tomorrow at noon at Bill Beck Field.
