Dan Batz Named Atlantic 10 Player Of The Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - University of Rhode Island junior infielder Dan Batz was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for March 31st, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Batz, a native of Mohnton, Pa., continued his torrid pace for the season with 11 hits in 18 at-bats (.611) for the week, including 8-for-11 in Rhode Island's doubleheader sweep of A-10 foe Dayton on Mar. 29. For the week, he pounded six extra-base hits, scored five runs and knocked in nine in URI's five contests. Batz had a pair of home runs, including a grand slam in the Rams doubleheader sweep against Dayton on Saturday. He also had three multi-hit games on the week and improved his batting average to a team-best .463. This marks Batz's league-leading third Atlantic 10 Player of the Week citation of the season.
Rhode Island is currently 10-13 for the season and 5-1 in the Atlantic 10, good for first place in the East Division. The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, April 1st when they travel to Connecticut for a matchup with the Huskies at 3:00 p.m.
