How it Happened
Rhode Island got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout by
Eric Genther that scored
Addison Kopack. The lead was short-lived however, as Tennessee responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Â
A two-run homer by
Anthony DePino cut the Vols lead to 4-3 in the top of the fourth, but that was as close as it got. Tennessee added five runs in the fifth, and another three in the seventh for the eventual 12-3 win as well as the series sweep.
Inside the Box Score
- Freshman Anthony DePino homered, singled, walked, drove in two runs and scored once.
