Patty Testa joined the Rhode Island Athletics Department as the Associate Athletic Director for Business and Personnel in January of 2018.
Before coming to Rhode Island, Testa was the Controller for the town of Johnson, R.I. for 10 years. In that role, she worked closely with the town's Mayor, Chief of Staff and Finance Director to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for the town. She also worked with the town's legal team to reduce litigations and quickly resolve open legal cases concerning the Finance Department. Testa directed the preparation, execution and monitoring of Johnston's $106 million budget, among many other roles.
Before working for the Town of Johnston, Testa worked as a Senior Forensic Accountant for one year for Hagen, Streiff, Newton & Oshiro. There she performed business income loss analysis for multi-million dollar corporations and developed theories relationg to revenue streams and expense structures.
She also spent six years as a principal auditor for the State of Rhode Island's Office of the Auditor General. In that role, she supervised audits of State agencies in accordence with FASB and GASB.
A member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard since December of 2005, Testa is Master Sergeant, 143rd Air Wing/Command and Control Operations Specialst. She earned the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal in March of 2016, and was the U.S. Air Force Basic Training Top Graduate in a class of 848 trainees in April of 2006.
Testa was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs at Rhode Island College from September of 2003 through November of 2006. She earned her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Rhode Island College in May of 2000.
