Sue Bergen enters her 11th year at the University of Rhode Island in 2013, having joined the Athletics Department in April 2002.

In her role as Associate AD for Business and Finance, Bergen is the department's chief financial officer, working with department heads, head coaches, and administrators in preparing the annual budget. She also manages the day-to-day fiscal and human resources aspects of the athletics department, including monthly reporting, budgetary forecasts and all expenditures related to the Athletic Department and the Ram’s Fund. She also oversees the operations of the Business Office and Equipment Room. She is the departmental liaison to a variety of university offices and serves on various university committees including the University's Administration and Management Review Committee and the Work Life Committee.

Bergen is the department's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and serves as sport administrator for the women's basketball and volleyball programs at the University of Rhode Island.

Bergen has served on numerous Atlantic 10 committees. She currently serves on the Finance Committee, Administrative Committee and is the co-chair of the A-10 Volleyball Committee. Past commitments for the A-10 include service on the Soccer Committee, and Officiating Committees. She has also served as NCAA Peer Reviewer. Bergen is currently the Secretary for Rhode Island Assoc for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW). She is also a member of the executive board of NACDA.

Bergen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and computer information systems from Northern Michigan University in 1986. Bergen is also a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Rhode Island and is a member of AICPA.

Bergen lives in Ashaway, R.I. with her husband Tom. Their daughter Jessica is currently a junior at URI and is a member of the Women’s Rowing Team. Their son John is currently a senior at URI.
